Psalm 23 summons us to lie down in green pastures and walk through the valley of the shadow of death. Yet so often it seems we do just the reverse–rushing through the pasture and lying down in the valley, fixating on our fears and uncertainties. We wonder where God has gone and why he doesn’t make things right, never considering that perhaps what we perceive as a trial is actually an invitation.
In this inspirational examination of David’s most widely known psalm, Heath Adamson asks the provocative question, What if the green pasture and valley of the shadow of death are the same place? Uncovering the rich historical and spiritual context of the shepherd’s psalm, he explores how God has provided a place of rest for each of us, even in times of unrest, ambiguity, and fear
Heath Adamson's life was changed dramatically when, at the age of 17, he was saved out of a life steeped in drug abuse and the occult. Now a popular and powerful speaker at conferences, seminars, universities, and churches, Adamson seeks to bring audiences from simply knowing information about God to actually experiencing God in life-changing ways. His dramatic salvation experience has led him to serve in multiple leadership roles with global influence, including Empowered 21's Next Generation Network, and as the global chairman for the Next Gen Commission for the World Assemblies of God Fellowship. He serves at Convoy of Hope, a global nonprofit focused on God's compassion and justice, where loving the poor and needy is a privilege. He is currently a PhD candidate in religious studies at the University of London. He and his wife, Ali, love living God's dream together with their two daughters.
