A Praying Life: Connecting with God in a Distracting World

Product Description

An honest look at the difficulties of prayer, unanswered prayers, and success in prayer

Readers will appreciate Paul Miller's down-to-earth approach and practical nature. Parents will find his family-life experiences especially helpful. Reading A Praying Life, you'll learn how to become like a child running to your Father – with your distractions and all. You'll learn how to ask him for anything spiritual and earthy, including parking spots. Paul Miller's insights into cynicism will reshape your asking and your faith that undergirds your asking. By living in Miller's stories of unanswered prayer, you will learn to watch and anticipate the story God is weaving in your life. New and better questions will come to you as you begin to perceive God's story in you. To help you establish a richer praying life, Miller explains how to use several practical tools in every day life.

About the Author

Paul E. Miller After graduating from college, Paul taught in inner-city Christian schools in Philadelphia. Then in 1983, he helped his father, Dr. Jack Miller, found World Harvest Mission. Paul went on to complete an M.Div.at Biblical Seminary and founded seeJesus, a mission that helps Christians, and non-Christians alike, to truly see Jesus through use of interactive Bible studies. Throughout his life, Paul has written several discipling courses as well as trade books like, Love Walked Among Us (NavPress), which weaves stories of how Jesus loves together with stories from his own life. The book is based on The Person of Jesus Study, an in-depth, interactive Bible study. In 2005, Paul's A Praying Life Study (an eleven-week course on prayer for "badly praying Christians") was released. In 2009, Paul wrote the popular trade book, A Praying Life (NavPress), in which the principles in the study are combined with stories of learning to live through prayer. Paul continues to write both trade books and interactive Bible studies for his ministry seeJesus. Paul and his wife Jill have six children, and are delighted at their growing number of grandchildren. They call the hills around the Philadelphia area their home.
