Product Description

Experience a countdown to the cross.

As you and your family approach the celebration of the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ, see how Scripture anticipates his coming by dropping hints along history’s path.

The six-week Messiah Mystery experience begins on Ash Wednesday. As a family, you will assemble a paper chain of 40 strips. Day by day, you'll take off one paper link and place it on a 20"x24"poster which will reveal a beautiful mosaic piece of artwork at the end of the journey.

A beautifully illustrated journal filled with stories and clues includes six weekly devotions that will not only engage your kids, but you will learn as well! For little ones, simpler dialogue is provided as an alternative and a magnifying glass and two clue books allows them to document their discoveries during the lesson. Easily adaptable no matter the season of life your family is in, Messiah Mystery will create meaningful moments with your family as you prepare your hearts and home for the resurrection of our Savior.

I ordered this product 2017 to use with residents at a nursing home. I found the quality of this product to be exceptional! Not only are the included books beautiful, but a wonderful tactile and sturdy material. The poster's daily picture that is being created is of excellent craftsmanship, and best of all -- the lessons are creatively produced for younger and older folks alike. The volunteers who are using this material just love it, as do our residents! Thank you for putting so much attention to quality!

Our kiddos (4, 6, and 10 respectively) enjoyed this okay and it served fairly well as our Lenten devotion this year. PROS: - Love the overall theme of detectives working to discover a mystery. - Bringing out some Old Testament truths and connecting them with Jesus. - Not having fixed days was actually a "pro" for us because family schedule can be unpredictable, so it was nice to not fall behind. - The Clue Books were a neat experience for the kids, even though the two youngest just scribbled or drew pictures. :-) - The puzzle rings were fun for the kids to paste on. CONS: - A bit costly for a single book and a couple small clue books. Recommend trying to bring this down to a $10 range, unless you also include a DVD with skits of some sort. - While the magnifying glass was a good idea in theory, the clues were in a large enough font that our "reader" just chose to look at them without the glass. - It looks like last year's version had a final secret clue hidden in it. We did not find out this year. Did we miss something? SUGGESTIONS: - The Clue Books should also include a cheap, but neat looking, "detective pen" for the kids. - Smaller font for the clue. - Scavenger hunt activity suggestions at the beginning of each chapter. Goes with the detective theme nicely. - Make the final puzzle a sort of "I Spy" with key elements surrounding Easter for the kids to hunt for.
